To keep prices low there is a cut off....
In most cases a USB mic is trying to perform all of hte functions of a mic, preamp and audio interface within a certain price point and for ease of use.

Ok, I got the mic, but I don't have the proper cable to plug it in.
I've read, though, that condenser mics need a power source
that would be a standard Condenser, the USB versions get power from the USB bus.

I swore there would be threads about this but I did a search and found nothing.
I know I won't get much from a $100 condenser. I've owned a AT3035 (which I thought was brittle and harsh), beta and sm58s, sm57's, senny e935's, and other assorted mics.

Read similar descriptions of the AT 20 series, but not that particular mic, which would bring me the mic?
I only ask this because I want to help you avoid the potential pitfalls many of us have faced early on in the recording process.

If you're replacing all audio then I'd go condenser all the way.
Rent one.
You're supposed to use the same mic as from the original shoot if you are only replacing some of the audio.

Experimenting with some home recording on acoustic guitar (Martin dreads, hog and rosewood) and have a t.bone stereoset plus a rhode nt1-A. The rhode is a decent mic, very quiet but records a bit bassy, while the t.bone is a bit too crisp and cutting....

Mic's can: If your Rode is sounding bassy, I probably wouldn't blame it on the mic.
One person's mid-price is another person's low range and too much for yet another person .

HPF in a mic is a simple RC filter, which has a slope of only 6dB.
