So Outlook only works on the LAN, and through VPNs.
Some companies only allow OWA (the internet URL you use) outside the firewall .
Can configure Outlook in your scenario.

I am trying to configure my outlook 2010 to access my new iCloud email. I read few posts on the web where people are talking about using "p02-imap.mail.me.com" as incoming mail server. It is not working for me.

Why don't you try to download iCloud beta for Windows? It configures Outlook automatically Outlook config says its using "p01-imap.mail.me.com".
