When you connect to the machine use the "connect as" option to specify the user that you want to connect with....
You could try connecting to the TFS machine using windows explorer before you connect via TFS.
I often connect to my work TFS instance over VPN. Becasue my home computer is not on the domain, I'm forced to enter my userid/password for each tf.exe command. Is there a way to cache or save this locally?

I hate TFS a little less now.
That should do the trick for you.
In the full server path of the TFS server (server.abc.xyz), the full username (ABC\username) and password to use for TFS access.
We are having a problem with the TFS connection. Is there any way to do merges between branchs with the TFS down?

If your TFS is offline, you WinMerge and update it to your TFS....
It would make no sense to do so.
I don't think so since TFS merges items by comparing the items from the source/target branch which at least one would be on the server.

I am able to connect to TFS with VS2010, but it does not populate the projects. but with Firefox using window credentials it works fine. other Team members in my Team are able to connect with VS2010 also. Plz help.

We used SSL with public access....
In many situations we still accessed our TFS instance instead of something at the client site.
With TFS was in an environment where we had a team of developers staffed out at client sites all over the city.
Hi Our TFS server has some temporary connectivity issues right now, and as such VS has gone unresponsive, leaving 50+ developers unable to work! Is it possible to switch TFS into an offline mode in the event of such an issue? Martin

You could get that data using the TFS Data.
This is obviously not much use.
I know that you are after.
Not sure that there is an easy way to do the query that you are requesting using the TFS API.
