I'm totally new to this web development stuff. So I see things like "localhost" all the time and ask myself: What's that?
I feel to know what a "host" actually is. Something that executes something. So my mac is the host for everything that runs on it...

Regarding you question about betterhost and such, see host ; basically every IP address is a host.
But that's another topic for another day or better day .

Just allow the first machine (or both) to contact the other and open up the firewalls on....
Is used to give access from a client on one network to the resources on another network via a host, then it's senseless to have the extra overhead.

You could put this logic in a Runnable object, then create a Thread that contacts the service.
You can setReadTimeout() in addition to the connection timeout.

Hello, I currently have a server with MCLayer, and we have their 1GB plan for $14 a month. However, Bukkit seems to use a lot of that, and we use %80 of our RAM with 3 members on. This obviously is not acceptable, and so we're looking to switch hosts....

If you really need 2GB RAM contact us and we can sort up cpu, or eat up ram, which both are quite....
Lag while using 80% RAM that's not an issue, we host bukkit servers with 20+ players on 1GB ram and they do not have any problems with lag.
