Just thought I'd share my recent experience with Tesco contents insurance.
We've had Tesco contents and building insurance for a few years now (got the Tesco Finest Policy)

Cancellation charges are also seen partially as a way of driving down "fraud" of people buying insurance to either prove to their mortgage providers they have home insurance....
Renewal as a way of driving down accidental non-insurance.

Is Legal Expenses cover with house contents insurance worth it? Last time I renewed I think I paid about £28 for this add-on.

Insurance companies want you to buy their additional products - they often earn more on these than the actual buildings / contents.
There are lots of other things it covers like consumer disputes .

In fact we just renewed the car Insurance and they noticed a chip.
They are very good and they have paid out on claims .
We use HDI for all our Insurance requirements.
Had any problems at all.

I previously took out home contents insurance in a previous tenancy, an apartment. Thankfully I never had to claim, but did when a camera was stolen when I was back living at home.
I hope to move into a 2-bed house with my wife soon but most of the places...

We received a recorded letter last week from our Natwest buildings and contents insurance telling us that our insurance policy was due for renewal as from the 27th of february 2012 abd that they would not be renewing our policy due to our claims history...
