So I guess in summary, Yes to a more open judo but only if the competitions change to more open judo.
It would be like telling amateur football teams at professional level .
As many clubs train solely for competitive judo.

Its just you these days grow up with wrestling....
Judo is a great all around deal.
They can learn to defend against guilotine fairly easy.
Yes they did the crosstraining but their base and bread and butter .
Much a judo vs wrestling showdown.
