I just bought my first bass (my first electric instrument altogether), a used Ibanez SR500. I'm currently playing it through an old Fender Rumble 25 watt amp.
When I play it through the amp, the bass sounds great. I've only played it with the volume low...

What headphones are you using? It's possible that the speakers inside your headphones aren't doing, as the cab has it's own voicing, and so do your headphones.

I'm working on a track and for the first time in ages i've referenced on cans and the mix sounds pretty shitty but sounds pretty alright on my monitors. The bass sounds very dry especially. What to do?

Bass sounds ok, it's not very exciting , the rhythm is good though .
Sounds like someone chopping wood.
Kick sounds over boosted at 5khz a bit hollow, not very bassy .
Checked it on my monitors.

My headphones finally crapped out on me (Sony MDR 7506) and I need new ones, for tracking and mixing (yeah I know, I shouldnt mix with headphones.)
Anyone have any suggestions? Im willing to shell out 100-200 bucks.

But....I do all of my mixing on headphones, soooo, I bought Sennheiser's are sitting here....
There great for tracking there good for mixing.
Be better off using headphones, along with the appropriate understanding of what you're up against.

Right i bought ear attachments for my iphone headphones and there absolute crap there always falling out . Does anyone know what the best headphones are for running, which actually stay in your ear lol

If you damage them you get a free replacement set I use the Sennheiser PMX80 sport headphones as you might expect from Sennheiser, but not noise-cancelling.
