I just found out that when my mail was stolen in December, someone used 3 of those to the tune of $3500! Ouch!
This was on a Citibank card.
When I canceled the card and got a new one, I asked that I not be sent those checks!

You might request paperless statements.

Only goes to the collections company that is why they bought it.

If you close the Cap One, you lose that history numbers if you have one card with a $30....
If you want your score to go higher, don't close the Cap One card, but continue to use it every% of your score is made up of credit longevity.
