This is my first attempt at using Business Intelligence development studio. I have set up the project and now trying to deploy my changes. When I run the project I get an error ensure that sql browser is running.

Right click it, and hit "Start." Voila, the Browser is running traffic through to Analysis services and the browser service?
I referred to the following http.
Scroll down to SQL Server Browser.

Update: Looks version of the browser and such inconsistencies....
Just so you've got one less browser to worry about, Chrome uses the same rendering engine as Safari browser, so if your site is compatible with Safari it should work great in Chrome.

Crashing my browser I get the typical window popup that IE has encountered and error and must be closed, it shouldn't crash the browser with an windows error.

Based on the error, I'd say that Ben is pointing you in the correct
direction. The other possible cause is incorrect service account
permissions.

Other permissions will need Smith@discussions.microsoft.....
To be set including correct permissions to access
the cube and IE browser settings to access data, as long as the domain in which the OLAP cube trusts the user's domain.
