Most custom ROMs (CM7, MIUI, to name a few) come with CWM preinstalled.
Ok so if I wanted to use a custom rom I would have to bootstrap every time I wanted to install CWM permanently.

This should work ....
You should be able to use the USB Drive in USB 2 mode .
You can try loading a 32-bit Vista compatible driver and it may work .
This includes Windows PE that the Ghost SRD is based on .
Windows does not have an official driver for USB 3 .
