How many of you who have low wattage setups use horns? I’ve always thought horns have the potential to provide the most dynamics which emulate live music. It’s always been a challenge to get them to provide a flat frequency response throughout the audio...

I have horns and I like them, but I do not use of a coaxial (tweeter and midrange....
Bass horns really driving them with decent amplification though.
With a three way system is imbalance between the bass horn and the midrange/tweeter.

I've been fascinated by horns for a long time now but haven't made the move. I must confess I haven't even heard a set in the home environment. I've been mucking around with large speakers for about 6yrs now, starting with a pair of Tannoy Berkeley 15...

I've read up on horn damping and decided to put them in a cab (and other mods to 802-8 with NOS 511 horns available
I also have found a pair of 902-8 available but I'll have to buy horns separately....
To be the better 802 version.

This weekend I finally got around to improving the grounding of my stock crossovers. I added a star ground from the four points and fixed a bad solder connection on one crossover. Sonics I can't really put a finger on but I have been able to move the ...

What is the engineering reason for blocking out part of a speaker? It seemed like a common practice a few decades ago. An example is attached.
Was it to squeeze energy into the vertical plane so that the speakers would sound the same to sitting and standing...

Nice to see my new kef ls5/5 bbc monitors they already do that via wave physics... .
Just curious.
Hope this helps I've read about in favor of vertical horns.
Been used in band-pass designs to adjust damping and/or add a low-Q resonant chamber.

I decided to build a few more wooden horns but needed to reduce the brute force required using the belt sander. I copied a shop jig from a photo posted a few years ago from a fellow DIY in HK. Thanks to a few basic AutoCad skills I was able to put the...

This is my first and last exposure to Padauk.
Your notice the saw dust feels damp why the other three horn halves turned out fine.
Are the same - they heal themselves with an oil when freshly cut .

As above,
Not sure why.
Both horns work ok and i tested them by connecting to the fog lamp wiring as the horns are behind the corners of the front bumper.
The fuse is ok and every other fuse as I know 600 double fuse things!
Changed the steering column...

Having a radical re-working of the system, and having to bow to domestic pressure to downsize the speakers, so its with a heavy heart (and I can't quite believe I'm doing this) that my Horning Agathon Ultimates are up for sale. These are the very latest...

I have the parts to assemble a pair of 19's except the crossovers.
Could a pair of crossovers from A7's be used temporally until I'm able to get proper crossovers?
The 416 woofers in the A7's are 8 ohms, same as the woofers for the 19's. The crossover...

The 416 woofers should have excellent bass in the Model 19 volume... .
Would using components are they? The 802 and 902 horn drivers are really nice.
From what I have read, crossover point will be 500mhz, the 811b horns go as low as 800mhz.
