Some more practice with the BB will get you there .
I think the fill flash is a bit on the higher side, especially with the chickadees .
Best for me is No.5.

And the tree, and also, in #2, the tree is SO dark that I feel like it loses some of the detail of all.

The contrast between the sky and the tree, and also, in #2, the tree is SO dark that I feel like.

Is pretty close to the conditions we had experianced (dark, snowstorm) The images were taken.
Murder in the Darkroom... my Pan F+ is all snowy :( Hi There! Here goes the story of a newbie to darkrooms... yesterday, I decided to process one of the Pan F+ I shot last weekend, only to find out with horror that it was filled with dark dots all over...

It might be tap water, my initial thought was if the developer was old, improperly mixed or kept in a cold place, such that the hydroxide... .
The pattern is interesting, and it appears that the dots are vertically aligned .
I am really unsure what to make of this.

So I use.
So I use centre dot exposure on animal and check histogram but there is not much you can do about it - if you expose for snow, then the animal is too dark.
For snow, then the animal is too dark.
Boundary Bay image 2 frames prior to the horizonal I previously posted 1DM4, 500, ISO 640, f6.3, 1/2500, cropped from horizontal and sky added above

Love the take off pose.
Perhaps a bunch of fill flash or maybe just different light .
The dark front takes away for me.
Doesnt really compliment the bird to me.
Photographed in late January in the marsh at Boundary Bay, BC, Canada. Given that shooting from the marsh and not the dike at Boundary Bay can be a controversial topic I hope people can focus in their responses on the quality of the image (or lack thereof...
