Given a source color of any hue by the system or user, I'd like a simple algorithm I can use to work out a lighter or darker variants of the selected color. Similar to effects used on Windows Live Messenger for styling the user interface.

Lighter colors have a higher L-value, darker a lower (hue, saturation, value) color space.

We have big application on the site and we have few links, which are lets say blue color like the blue links on this site. now i want to make some other links, but with lighter color, obviously i can just do simply by the hex code adding in the css file...

As I understand early ('84 only?) GTIs came with the tailgate surround (black), swage line stripe (always black?) and sill stripes carried over from the MK1 GTI.

Most pyrography I see is done on lighter coloured wood. I have wondered about using a pyro unit to put my initials on things but I don't usually use light colours...

So on my darker turnings read your post! I do not have any input to your questions on making wood darker using pyrography.
On the darker woods it's more like engraving with a pyrography pen.

Most balls are white, some are yellow, and there's the odd orange ball, but are any other colours available from respected manufacturers?
