Hello,
With just four drives, would you do: a) two RAID 1 arrays (OS + transaction logs, Data) b) 1 RAID 10 array partitioned, or c) 1 RAID 5 array partitioned?
Thanks!

There's also the old favourite....
You will get the best speed and redundancy on as well, I'd also consider 1 x OS disk, 1 x RAID 1 set for the data and logs, and the fourth drive for the tempdb.
X RAID 1 , one for data and one for logs .

If I were to archive data on a hard drive, unplug it, and set it on a (not dusty, temperature-controlled) shelf somewhere, would that drive deteriorate much?
How does the data retention of an unplugged hard drive compare to tapes?

Can anything be done to get data out of a dead SATA drive, the drive won't even show up on the list of drives when booting the computer?

Is there a program that I can use to encrypt my flash drive? I would like to be able to access data from any computer, however, so the program will probably have to reside on the flash drive.

Other programs are: Take Away USB-File encryption and Challenger.
As the Travelling Tech Guy mentioned, try TrueCrypt.
Or in Windows 7, try BitLocker To GO.
Try TrueCrypt - been using it for a year now .

Use an Admin account MacBook drive.
Put the drive into a 2.5" enclosure and hook it up to another Mac.
This came up on the Apple Discussion Boards for 10.5 .
This assumes that the hard drive is physically intact.
