My dentist is dead against floss as....
Can't stand floss for wider gaps between teeth, especially back teeth where flossing is technically more.
Depends on the gaps between your teeth.
I use tape, as I find the floss too thin.

I heave read a lot of literature that recommends first passing water through your skimmer before it goes through filter floss. As the skimmer remove the stuff out of the water while the floss let it remain in the water for a period, it is a better way...

I've got my floss in the overflow purely to grab bits and pieces of "stuff" before it gets, I don't run floss and never will, to me it is purely for freshwater tanks and not for marine tanks from drilling in the floss.
