There's some newbies to the horse world who will not abide by any of that, and have already chosen to go the route of....

I've experienced it myself that an overworked horse will become stubborn and ill-tempered.

I would....
It's a 240 total bet per day? Can that be 3 different $80 win bets? Can I key a horse top and bottom? And is there only one bet allowed per day or is there a maximum total amount per day? Sorry.

This came up on Derby day with my old partner..Last horse I was involved with I sold in Jan As A weener so that does not count..Derby fever and beer fueled the talk of possibly claiming one..But My numbers count everything except A injury or surgery.....

Vet is the great unknown.

Oh, believe me, I'M peeved 6 hours in, too! I have 4 kids that show in each of these shows,and the day horses that we've taken to....

Fairly young horse and very long day.
So I'm looking at a nice older mare. She turns 18 next month. My first horse was older and had health issues I had not been told about. Horse is sound. No known health issues. What should I know about caring for an older horse?

I would not be afraid to buy a horse this age turnout you can possibly give her, 12 hours plus....
One, they're good for 30." IF you use them intelligently .
Judicious use.
Conditioning.
Teeth.
Caring for an older horse, priorities are: Turnout.

He isn't a nervous....
I loved that horse still have her but she is getting quite stiff and i know her time is coming of a little of everything.
May be I will drive there again and spend a day with him it.
Really need to spend more time with him.
Has anyone heard of an unscrupulous seller purposely trimming feet too short to get a horse foot-sore before a sale? In this case, the horse is extremely forward and seller may have wanted to hide that fact.

We'd pull with any sort ....
And the easiest is to lunge to exhaustion of a farrier trimming too short and then a buyer wanting to come see the horse the next day.
Supplement on the day the horse is tried seems cheaper/easier.

I had not realized how stressed commitments may prevent you getting to the barn to see your horse every day.
The day the horse left, I felt this huge relief.
Was treated.

She actually is fairly smart, and tries, even though she :) This horse looks way upright to me.
I feel sorry for her horse.
