How does one determine that the card a person is entering is a debit card, check card, or credit card?
I am looking at this for web payments in the US only. This is for utility billing.

Although with my Dutch debit card I always got the option to choose..
You can run Debit as Credit - no need for pin number
you can run Credit as Debit you've got.

If the used amount is drawn from a debit account or from an allowed credit and billed later is decided by the issuing bank.
You can not do it evenYou can't.
It's not always possible to tell if it is a debit or credit card.

This is similar to how debit cards work: card number/CV2 generated ("server") -> shipped to customer -> is asked if they have a loyalty card by the cashier.

For no reason whatsoever google checkout is declining them.
Same problem here, tried with two cards as well and i know they both work.
I'm having the same problem, I've just tried with different cards from separate banks, all declined.
