It really means 'taxpayer pays' for the poor decisions made by the borrowers as well if you continuously pay them .
They racked up the debt and they should be required as 'forgiven'.
Just my opinion.

I have a lot of loans that piled up during college--does anyone have advice on debt consolidation? I was looking at a program called Debtwise that is supposed to help. There is just so much information out there it is really overwhelming.

I Have a question on figuring insolvency for the IRS. Since IRS asks you to determine your level of insolvency just prior to the debt being forgiven would you use the full amount of the original debt a's a liability since technically before it is forgiven...
