So I received a standard letter from a collection agency that has a last payment date of 01/01/00. Yes, January of 2000. They are telling me if I don't respond within 30 days they will assume the debt is valid.

How can you fight Debt collectors that redate very old debts? So many many years ago when I was young, silly and poor I didn't always pay my bills. I have been trying to rebuild my credit and basically wait out super old debts over the last few years ...
