Candidates which lack experience and have no degree go to the bottom of the pile.
I value experience more than a degree of education.
I wont reject an applicant which doesn't have a degree.

He said when looking at applicants, they preferred those with a technical degree (the math/cs in this case) rather than an MIS/CIS degree because it's easier to teach a new employee the business end than the technical end.

I did learn more longer then 2 years, but you'll have both the experience and masters degree.
In my case, the Master's Degree did nothing to improve my ability as a programmer.

More than anything a programmer without such a formal background... .
I would say it has been very useful.
Perhaps the largest help my degree offered has been the high(er out there where a degree is a prerequisite.
And that's where it started.
