I do not believe the fact that it is a Dell Mini9 should matter, assuming it is a standard parameters with
synclient -l
I use Ubuntu 9.04, but I think in Ubuntu 8.04 you may have to add.

Has anyone here tried the new Dell XPS 15z with Ubuntu. I am looking for a new laptop and I was wondering if the Dell XPS 15z works perfectly with Ubuntu. I just can't image going back to Windows, not for any machine.

As far as I know, you can still order Ubuntu systems via phone.
