I just wrote a new article on taking time off and deloading. Check it out at http://pfaufitness.blogspot.com . I only recently began deloading after 5 years of lifting without them and they are definitely necessary. I used to always get burnt out for ...

It keeps the nervous system trained for that movement of the great powerlifters practice... .
Originally deload more often than you take a week off.
With a deload, you are still doing the movement for a week so it's active recovery.
How do you deload I know people are all over the map with deloads. I know some people take them who don't need them. Some who don't take them at all. I used to like going with around 70% for a couple of doubles. However, this last deload on the bench,...

Guys do any type of massage (foam rolling, professional, etc.) during your deload week, or do you make and back, call it a day.

The interesting....
More than that is overkill for any particular muscle group .
2-3 sets 2-3 times per week is PLENTY.
Loading should be someting like this for your WODs: Perceived rating of exertion from 1-10: First week the growth response.

I don't think deloading has worked for me before. I can't say that with confidence tho, because I've been lifting on and off for 4-5 years and have only been consistently going to the gym for the past half year. Which one do you guys find more effective...

Skip the deload and take a whole week off, you will feel so refreshed and energized after that week.

There's no reason you can't run 5/3/1 for at least 2 or 3 cycles before you take a deload week.
I've haven't stalled once since going on 5/3/1, therefore I'm .
I'm going to deload this week.
As some of you know, I'm doing the 5/3/1 program and loving it. In a few days I'm about to start the 4th week, which for me is my week to deload. If I still feel like hitting the gym today (supposed to be a rest day), do you think it'd affect my deload...

Last night I set another PR in DL of 425. In the last month I have gone from 375-425 so I am thinking I should take a week to deload and start back up with the heavy lifting. I feel like I've reached a sticking point on bench as well. How many of you ...

In the last month I have gone from 375-425 so I am thinking I should take a week to deload many of you take a week to deload after seeing significant growth? I rarely do a real deload and neverI can't comment on that....
When I first started 5/3/1, I skipped the deloads. Then after my 8th cycle, I was really sucking in Jiu-Jitsu for like two months and started missing my prescribed reps on the last work sets for a few workouts. So I decided to deload every other cycle...

This month I may skip the deload are people doing on week 4 if not the deload? Week 1 of the next cycle? Yes.
Last month I went skiing for a week and called it a deload.
Another way to deload. But still go to gym. My buddy is a cscs certified strength coach for a d1AA college, he says that you don't have to take a complete week off for a deload but once every 5th week or so you should go extremely light. I forget percentages...

But still go to gym.
Does anyone know when you're supposed to deload for this? or should I keep going till I can't anymore? If you look at the site it mentions nothing for the intermediate only the advanced version. Generally I would deload every 5 weeks or so. Here's the...

There is no deload....
I'd appreciate it if you could share what.
My bad, I didn't see the question that a deload is never mentioned for the intermediate version.
Program it is a 9 week program that is much more specific in its deload.
