I have read some other discussions and it seems like many dental assistants hate their jobs. I am considering becoming a dental assistant and would like to know more about it. Do you get benefits? Is the pay decent?

There's more than meets the eye than just getting a hole filled.
Still got all my teeth after 62 yrs but I don't know how long that'll last.
Had to get a rogue tooth out when I was 10.
Had root canal therapy 2x with caps...

I have been a dental assistant for 25 yrs. 23 of them have been spent working at a dental school. The other 2 in private practice. Even though the school doesn't pay as much the benefits,retirement & job security out weight working in private practice...

Alot of the dental schools have many more hygiene positions now.
I was accepted better money.
For the hygiene program after I completed the dental assisting program.

Have used supplements as some posters have.
I have regular dental visits.
I am now going back whitening toothpaste.
No medications now, little coffee or soda, no dental problems, no GERD, ....
