I recently installed Vista from scratch. I have three drives in my rig. Two of them were empty at the time of install. The other had all of my junk on it.

I think i have seen this behaviour when the drive has an assigned drive letter that is already in use as a network drive .

Stop using all of those disk utitlities.
Then I ran the Win Check Disk utility and it also said is installed in the D: drive.
CrystalDiskInfo and it said the drive was good.
