Hiding the created, last updated whois, e.g.
Registration and registration expiration date cannot be hidden in any way.
However, usually this is quite acceptable practice.
You sometime in trouble.

Paying for it seems crazy! "Domain Privacy" is a risky thing to engage in -- you don't actually own the domain and don't really have any service, Dynadot's QA on domain ....

The registration to you or extract compensation for an up-front fee and then you'd never hear from them again, the problem is finding which once.

You need to get a domain where you can manage the DNS Yes, if you setup the DNS as sourceforge domain, use some online DNS management tool (should be provided by your domain registrar - for FREE.
