I just got a call from my doctor and they need to do an amniocentesis to check for down syndrome tomorrow. Has anyone does this? I am very nervous.

I have what is considered high odds for downs syndrome as well (1:152 and supposedly checks for downs syndrome specifically within the mothers blood.
Is completly different.

I've met parents at preschool to, and probably never....
I have seen maybe I've talked to, had "no idea" what Down Syndrome was or what it entailed.
I had always seen people with Down's syndrome older than me or my age growing up.

We found out yesterday that LO has Down Syndrome. It was not a big shock given the ultrasound findings from Monday, especially for DH because he had been googling a lot (I told him I didn't want to know what he was finding). I am so much better now knowing...

I'm not comfortable at this point with doing a more invasive CVS the % for Down Syndrome but it was high enough that he sent her to a specialist.

I have a teen-aged nephew who has Down Syndrome who functions at a quite high level.
Are stereotyping those who have Down Syndrome unfairly and far too restrictively.
