Anyone have an idea on how much it costs to repair a pulley? I think that's what it is, the metal thing you apply the downhaul rope to Ideas on where to take it?

Happy to pay for a pulley and ....
The webbing seems all fine.
Regards Martin Just the pulley.
Has the pulley itself broken or has the webbing that holds it on broken???? Irwin Sails or Horizon can sew it back on, if you need a new pulley give me a shout .

Mike612 said... Maybe you could explain why your mainsheet is run through a block that provides tension on a downhaul when there is load on mainsheet. mike612 you posed this question in another thread and got a flippant response, hopefully this explanation...

Its fool proof and will get you going anyway has shown a 3 to1 on the main sheet and... .
For a more modern system do a search for "Crockett downhaul" an excellent system I set mine up I can see a requirement for more downhaul force at times).

The pic makes my words better.
Apologies for the lack of correct terms.
Catspaw Spritsail.
Back of the hull, as part of the inwale is a 'bit' of notched timber to pop the sheet rope into. No mechanical advantage, just rope from sail to hand via notch....

I think a traveller rope, I'm thinking of making a rope figure....
Let alone the skill level involved.
A rope traveller with a running block
probably about 10% slack in the traveller of the trailer, epoxy and paint alone...
My vote is Yes.

What lubricant to ease sail raising (Old Maricat 3.4) Hi guys
Anyone use special lubricant on the main sail in the runner to ease the pulling it up, mine gets very tight towards the top, thanks. (novice sailor)

Allows you....
Put another bit of poly rope to keep the sail in the track at the foot, tack it through with whipping twine.
If the sail is old then consider that the bolt rope into the sleeve.
+1 on that, or any silicone spray.
Up a little.

Then if you tie the end of the bungee to a piece of rope with kite up and you're standing....
Ali
I think they need to be separate as the rope lead directions are not the same, which would mean to the back end of the boat and through a block.

Advice....
But my heart disagrees.
I want tape (and probably rope) to run unbroken down the luff out.
Fixing the things which bother me most:
1) The tape and rope along the luff is cut at the batten pockets around it is already coming loose.

What is the snotter?
I've sailed everything from 26' to 42' sloops, but never have heard the term.
It must be more pertinent to the sprit rig I need to build (and have been studying) for my 8' dinghy (Handy Andy).

One end is fixed.
Not shown is the downhaul that goes thru' the pulley.
The big eye an old awning pulley.
The snotter is the rope figure of "8" that holds the heel of the sprit to the mast.
