Have have a question about FLV files, do FLV files stream when you post them on the web? I am linking to a number of FLV files on the web and want to have seamless view of the videos.
SWF files seem to stream ok--

I use one of the Firefox plugins for embedded video to download content from Youtube and other sites. The program downloads these videos in FLV format, and I have VLC Media Player to play them, which seems to be pretty highly recommended around here.

It can convert between MP4,3GP,MPG,AVI,WMV,FLV, and SWF SUPER © (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) to convert FLV into pretty much anything.
Format Factory can do this without a hitch.

Hi,
I am trying to put an FLV video on a website.
I tried using Dreamweaver CS3 (Insert - Media - Flash Video), it works great except for 2 problems:
The video starts black (How do you show an image prior to playing the video?)
The browser starts downloading...

However, you can use a different player such as JW FLV Media Player , which supports the features you ask for.
I don't know if Dreamweaver's FLV player supports this.

Safari, for example, exposes all resources downloaded via the Activity window.
It should URL very effectively.
Chances to make it work with the MIME type set to video/x-flv or flv-application/octet-stream .

On my former computer setup I used FLV Extract to open .flv's in VirtualDub with ffdshow installed. I have since reloaded my system and have the same software installed and can no longer open .flv files in VirtualDub. I am using ffdshow with .flv enabled...

I see that all the .flv files in my /uploads/ folder are Owner/Group 99 99.
As a result I can't "chmod" them, "touch" them... or "converter" them in Justin's iPhone mod.
Is this a server issue and/or how do I overcome this?

I did use mass uploader to ftp a mp4 version of one of the .flv files it should...
Chron job always comes back there's a redirect to the pc view .
