Budget Drum Overheads Hey there. I'm looking into getting a pair of overheads. I'll be using a CAD kick mic from that package they make on the kick, and an sm57 on the snare. People seems to liking those 12 Gauge mics for overheads..Price is right. Michael Joly, Samson, Behringer, etc. Though I prefer LDC on overheads the Oktava MK-012 are really great as overhead mics.

DPA 4006s, too! The Coles just don't seem to have the detail I'm looking for as a drum overhead. I much prefer the AEAs or Royers in that spot . For them on drum overheads.

Drum overheads for Untreated rooms I know this might seem redundant, but I can't find an answer on this. I am looking at Earthworks mics as overheads. You may have to rethink the viability of getting certain kinds of drum sounds in your room. Mics as you can, and mixing overheads very low, if not avoiding them altogether.

They also work well for me, @ 700.00. overhead microphone mixed with an RE20 bass drum microphone and an Audix I5 for the snares batter head on overheads, they give a nice full drum sound and silky airy cymbals.
