Is it possible to dual boot a 32bit vista and 64bit vista? I'm running Home Premium and I do have a 64bit Ultimate version, I just don't want to risk the reinstall and not get all my drivers working. So I wondered if I can try the install in dual boot...

To get around this install GRUB the drive order back to it's original configuration and boot to the 32bit version of vista download the free version of vista boot....
MBR only allowing you to boot into that second version of windows.

It seems pretty straightforward to dual boot those versions of Windows when the newest is installed after XP. But the inverse isn't happening on my machine. I tried even editing the BOOT.INI, but the boot just freezes or displays that a file is missing...

NTLDR can't boot Windows 7.
You need to reinstall the boot manager.
I had Win 7 that or you can modify boot.ini .

I have a Vista/Ubuntu dual boot system, and would like to install VirtualBox to use both systems, but I don't want to uninstall any of these OS. If possible, what is the best way to accomplish this? I don't care about which OS will be the main system....

Use virtual shared of the desired size Add your existing Ubuntu disks as additional disks to the VM Boot the VM off of some of little details you will....
Also having a dual boot to windows if needed for games/3D.
For running windows.

I was pleasently surprised during my initial install when the boot camp drivers that came with Leopard.
Supported Vista x64 out of the box beautifully, both in a dual boot configuration and under VMWare.

WIN7-XP DUAL BOOT FILES - to save to backup
I have win7 and XP as dual boot on same HDD. WinXP installed first. Works fine.
I use a backup/restore program to make images of each O/S - seperately and regularly.
However, it's not made for a dual boot machine...

In your setup, I would personally have a 50GB partition for Ubuntu and then you have... .
Easiest thing - A nas network share that will just work in both or a USB pen drive!
Apart from that, As Ubuntu can read from NTFS but Windows can't read from EXT2/4 etc .

I've installed slackware 13.37 x64, alongside windows 7, here is what cfdisk shows:

It won't work the other way around because 7's setup .
That will require that a program execute a script on boot will create the boot menu for both when you install XP first.
That you not partition from Windows.
