Yeah after doing a lot of research I can't find any aftermarket ECU unless need to just look for some used ECU....
Worst case would be to find 1 at a junkyard as several you for your response .
Making an aftermarket ECU for our trucks...

My car stopped starting one day. I thought it was the crank position sensor, changed that, and it didn't do anything. I took it to a shop and they showed me the ECU.
Is it a common problem for 9-5 ECUs to go bad like this? I'm guessing there's a short...

I'd be hesitant to put another ECU in as the same thing.
There is nothing outside of that kind of a short that should cause the leg on that chip to burn up .
You have a short somewhere.
With a quick ecu tune.

The flow control is set to none you can interface between Shadowlogger (The MS data logger for Android) and your MS ECU) adapters can cause lots of headaches....
The baud rate is set to 9600, which is what I need for MS-1 .

Turned out to be a bad ecu earth onto the chassis behind the dash.
That this was the problem all along and ecu didn't need unbricking at all.
