I've been messing around with a dual E5-2690 (8 cores 2.9GHz / per socket) with 192GB RAM, for a couple of weeks now. Everything from Ubuntu, CentOS, SuSE, Windows 7, OS X Lion, and ESXi.
The only OS which actually used turbo boost was Win7. Using a turbo...

EIST - Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology -

I had initially overclocked my pc using the guide on tomshardware to 3.2ghz / 3.8 with turbo, but decided I want to try out a static o.c.

I've been working on OC'ing all day today. I was able to get up to 4.7Ghz, but my temps on Prime95 were hitting 100c on my hottest core so I had to back off to 4.6Ghz. I had to have a voltage of 1.4 to hit 4.7 and be stable. I'm still hitting 89-90c on...
