I believe that is the Eastern view.

I hate to be technical and legalistic but the Eastern Catholic Church refers to the 22 ecclesial liturgical rites other than the Latin Rite.

Maybe you mean that Western Rite Orthodox parishes are a block to unity as far or Oriental traditions.

Do you consider yourself "Roman Catholic"? Some Eastern Catholics see themselves as "Roman Catholics" while others don't as "Roman" is thought by some to imply "Western" or "Latin Rite" So do you or don't you?

An Eastern Catholic is not a Latin Rite Catholic but is nevertheless....
The Latin Rite has "sub-rites" within itself.
There is in the Roman Catholic Church 23 main rites, 22 Eastern and 1 Western, the Latin Rite.

Why do I have to get permission from from the Latin Bishop to move over to an Eastern Rite if we are all Catholic and one Church? Is it legalism? thanks for your posts in advance.
