Here in stackoverflow, if you started to make changes then you attempt to navigate away from the page, a javascript confirm button shows up and asks: "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?" blee blah bloo...

Its NOT enough....
Since you can bind to sets.
If the user then tries to navigate away from the page, you check that flag://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_onunload.asp
With JQuery this stuff is pretty easy to do.
A boolean flag will be set.

How do you manage big projects (hundreds of files) using only VIM?

A lot of times I say "OK, I need to work on feature x now" and need to navigate to another file.
It makes it very easy to pick out files.
Class.(php) (parenthesis denote what it's matching).

In your situation, for the 2nd command, type "cd ", press alt-., and the rest should happen on its own .
If you hold down your alt key and press ".", the shell will automatically type the last argument to the last command you entered .
