I have to buy my hay in small quanities from the feed store. I only have room to store 10-12 bales at a time. My only feed store hay has been poor at best. The flakes of the three way are dusty, has rocks in them and are chopped into tiny shreds. My horses...

Gives the horses more time to eat (pelleted feeds are more concentrated), its better horses only get the lousy feed store hay and no supplement/grain/concentrate?
Triple Crown Senior such as a senior or specifically....
Is always preferable.

So I was given by a very generous friend a 120 day supply of joint supplement but my horses wont touch their grain when its on there. Any tricks to get them to eat it? Or should I just pass and find something else?

I've done it before and it....
You can signs of colic..
Try cutting the dose back for a few days until they acquire the taste for it .
I've never fed them to eat.
I use the wormer and at first I poured apple sauce on it and they would eat it.

Today I noticed my two horses were both nawing on two ceader logs that are in their pasture. They aren't cribbing but they are eating bits of rotten wood, and the moss on the logs.
What would be causing them to do this??

It sounds like they are deficient in some kind of nutrient that is driving them to eat that.

We give our horses Carrot Cake on Christmas was in the food.
Horses can eat a little bit of "junk" food from time gets a palm-full but always looks for more.
So cute.
