When you get plain text from eBook parse.
For PDF files I used pdftotext utility.
First of all you need to extract text from chm or pdf file content from CHM files .
I did it for eBook library app.

I think that Evernote has capabilities close.

I decided to go with a multi-format ebook reader app rather than trying a couple of ebook apps I have Cool Reader installed and that is what I am using.
I use the SGP 5 to read ebooks.
