TOTW - Air Tools or Electric Tools on the trail?
I already have a CO2 tank and some air tools, but was considering picking up an Electric Impact wrench and a few other things. I'd rather keep the CO2 for airing up, or possibly get a better compressor. source
I need some tools?
I am in school right now and will be interviewing for some apprentice jobs. I want to have a good amount of my own tools so that i will be ahead of the game. source
Pneumatic or electric?
I have a 5 hp IR compressor and my shop is piped with 5 quick-connect outlets. Personally, I have never given any thought to air tools with the exception of an IR die-grinder, and an CP impact wrench for the garage. Thinking about it, I see it as a matter of overall efficiency. Why use electricity to compress air for and deliver to the tool. I like to stay close to the source, the wall plug or battery pack. Thus, my recommendation is if you already have a good size compressor in place, then a air tools are a viable option. If you need to 'compressor up' then stay with the electron flow. source
Electric cars a losing bet?
I think part of the problem facing makers investing in EVs at this point is locking themselves into technology that is set to soon be obsolete. That has to discourage investment to a degree and it is a strong argument for governmental support of battery manufacturing at this stage. source
Can a amateur Car Enthusiast make his own Electric Car Engine?
Why, just order an electric motor and figure out a way to mount it in the engine bay where your engine used to be. Why would you make something that you can get out of a catalog? When's the last time you built an alternator from scratch? An alternator is an electric motor, just a small one, many early electric cars used junkyard alternators or generators from turbo jet engines as their electric motor. An electric motor is not nearly as complicated as a gasoline engine so there's not a million parts for you to tinker with. source
