The use of Eminent Domain has expanded in recent years to private companies. This story is an example of the use by a pipeline company and I am sure if there ever is a pipeline from Canada the companies involved there will have the same power. After all...

Emminent domain is a right of government to act in the interests of All the people in the best interest of the city or state, not for the few.
As it has been used in the last few decades, it has been a way for corrupt politicians to act in the interest...

In the Kelo case, a couple I haven't heard anyone make the eminent domain argument.
A private company is using eminent domain as made possible by Kelo.
