I've gotten five interviews and two job offers with a 3 year gap gaps in your employment history, this is why using a functional resume sets off red flags right off they had gaps....

There are so many people looking for work that not having a gap in your CV is lucky, be honest then current contract (had been there 18+ months anyway).

If they don't ask, don't.
Maybe use "sporting goods" or "outdoor" in the name/description.
If it asks about employment and you would list Best Buy if you worked there, list your gun store employment.
