This may have been rapped on before yet could find little info on personal experience. I was told I would lose engine braking when I put on a performance exhaust. I love the engine braking on my FZ1 but need (not want) a louder exhaust than stock so I...

Not sure why you "need" a louder exhaust, but ok .
With engine braking, I always activate my brake light anyway by pulling the front brake lever in slightlyIt won't change engine braking one bit.
I bought a 2012 800XP EPS last week and love it except for no engine braking. Can you put the engine brake system that is on the HD models on the XP? If so would that void the warranty? I don't want to put the DDP kit on it as that would void the warranty...

IMO engine braking should be standard on all Rangers.
After running it for a few end up getting the clutch kit .
Oem.html I really thought about getting the engine braking on my 2012 XP EPS.
Given that diesel motors are inherently so efficient and don't generate much engine braking even at higher revs, is there any point in downshifting for a steeper gradient? Or does one simply rely on the brakes for prolonged mountain descents? I've gotten...

Has quite a bit of engine braking actually, if I let go of the accelerator (especially when it's cold transmission car, it's the tranny that decides how much "engine braking" you are going going to get any "engine ....

I live in the burbs which means we have a metric ton of stoplights. One thing I starting doing yesterday, but was a little nervous about, was engine braking with the triptronic. I drove a 5 speed beetle back in the day and use to use it all the time. ...

I wouldn't worry about engine braking a DSG with engine compression/natural friction providing the braking force.
Gears and gives me the highway mileage I'm looking for .
When engine braking is occurring, is it the same as using the rear brake? I had my first track day on Friday, and am now obsessed with trying to figure out everything about how bikes work, fastest lines, how and when to brake/shift, etc. Still curious...

As for the whole engine braking thing, according to Keith Code, brakes are for stopping and engine is for going....
As for the whole engine braking thing, according to Keith Code, brakes.
Stable and happy.
Do you guys drop all the way to first when you're engine braking to a complete stop? I wonder 'cause I usually stop at second gear and then let my brakes do the rest. It always feels a little strange when I do try putting it in 1st at around 15mph; like...

Engine braking practises your downshifting skills, which to do this on the street? the whole of engine braking during a race is so you can brake later when? the whole....
To engine brake is still important.
So I went to get my ZX-6 inspected today and the mechanic said my rear tire was boarderline. I do not to burnouts at all. It seems the rear tire lasted around 6000 miles. I have already purchased a new set of both front and back. The question is, is that...

Cheers, Mike Unless you will put FAR more ....
It doesn't matter what slows your back wheel, the engine and the brake do the same thing when you are slowing.
engine braking will wear the rear any more than rear braking.
My '00 Forester burned through about a 1.5 quarts of oil during a ~700 mile trip this weekend. A lot of my driving was down steep gravel mountain roads where I left the car in 1st or 2nd gear (manual transmission) to keep the speed down without overheating...

It isn't all engine braking for long periods of time.

Just by habit I let off the throttle while in traffic though I notice people get too close for comfort as my brake light isn't lit up. Is this a subject that comes to mind while you're riding? I'm trying to get in the groove of pretty much always using...

For normal city traffic, tooling along in 3rd seems to work best .
A lower gear will provide more engine braking.
