Hopefully the refurb is better but you never know with Epson Im on my second unit and I'll be returning it soon for a third on the bottom and green bar at....
Call Epson and they will send you a refurb overnight.
The projector is defective.
If I were to mount my projector a few inches above the top of my screen, how much does using more lens shift adversely effect the image?

The 6500UB has a decent enough lens whereby using a small.
That all has to do with lens quality.
Visual Apex and Projector People are out of the 8700ub and 6500ub refurb. Has Epson completely ceased production of these models? It seems like a huge mistake to put all of their eggs in one basket and rely on the 5010 as their mid-range model.

Hi folks, I am a TOTAL n00b when it comes to projectors, but I've decided to get my first one instead of another TV. I've done quite a bit of research and decided that my budget will be around $1,000. I'll do $1,200 if there is a truly compelling reason...

Hi; I have the opportunity to purchase a 9500UB from a friend that is moving to a smaller place and doesn't have the room for a front projector anymore. I know this unit has been replaced with the 9700UB but from what I can see there is little difference...

Make sure you check this out for yourself -- there's a test pattern you can display from the 9500 to check .
These projectors have worked well for me and both have really good convergence of the LCD panels .
I use a 9500 and 7500UB on a regular basis .
Just bought an 8700ub. I'm looking for a decent ceiling mount that will work with it. As inexpensive as possible without being junk. It will hang somewhere around 12 inches or so from the ceiling, not sure exactly yet, so an adjustable length would be...

With an epson pj without going to the hardware store and buying extra parts to rig it.
AE4000 - $1450 LG CF181D w/free bulb - $1600 Epson 8350 - $1200 I missed the boat on the 6500ub as Coderguy recommended. What is the best non-dlp that is still available? I think its between the AE4000 and the LG CF181D. The LG seems to be brighter. I...

My thoughts tend to lean toward the 8350 another Bulb, use it, keeping the original for the "Spare" since Epson warrantees the original.
I really did like the SXRD panels though.
Toward Epson's 8350.
I currently own a Sony VPL-HS20 and am looking to get a 1080p projector. I am trying to keep cost down and have been looking at the following: Optoma HD20 Epson 8350 Epson 6500UB (refurb) Mitsubishi HC4000 All are about $1000 (HD20 a little less) so any...

The Epson 6500UB seems to get good feedback here, but again not sure how much the Epson 6500UB? I have also read about the limited flexibility in projector placement.
For something better.
According to the throw calculator, factoring in the projector I'm planning to buy (refurbished Epson 6500ub), the amount of ambient light and the fact that I have white walls and ceiling, I can just manage to project a 100" diagonal 16:9 image on a 0....

I'll try and keep this short. Abut a year ago, I needed a new projector. I ended up getting a b-stock Sony vw60 from the special AVS was offering. Loved it, but my wife and I are divorcing. I left some equipment in the house, mainly for the kids, with...

However I did have an old....
I like Sony's color over Epson in general but I never owned the 6500ub.
I'd probably take for my HP2.8 while you have the 1.0 .
Fill and the SDE on the Epson might be more noticeable if you sit very close.
