If on the front of the printer it says "claria ink" you shouldn't use that because the ink won't stay on the garment.
If on the front of the printer it says "durabrite ink" you can use that one.

If so, you could use ....
You could check whether you can communicate with a PC, both from the Arduino and to the printer lines?
I'd hook another PC instead of the printer to the other end of the serial cable and run telnet the serial port.

Not to turn this into....
I am currently abusing a Canon iPF8100 and love it compared to the Epson print modes.
Without a RIP and using the Epson driver I believe rarely need to print 20+ feet.

I have heard that Epson printers are the best printers to get for making your own heat transfers. Which is better the Workforce 435, WorkForce 545 or is there a better Epson around the $100 price tag?

Which Epson paper are you looking at? I can make a profile for you, but would have to look up the proper procedure to print the target for a Canon printer, although I'm pretty sure using the Adobe Color Printer ....
