You have a great idea with color and seasonal timing, but these two trees are not very compatible and rich soil to grow well, whereas eucalyptus sucks up lots of water (rapidly drying soil for plum, eucalyptus may generally exude ....

Found similar type at GB dam but I cannot ID it .

Over the last two weeks I've looked at three Eucalyptus trees that have died.
The first was stone dead with no new growth evident this year.
The other two had about one inch of new growth and now all the leaves are brown.
All are in the Reigate area but...

If it appears there is a possibility, on those rare occasions when trees are coated in ice here gums are apt to be heavily affected.
All you can do is leave it and hope the tree endures.

I'm thinking in terms of you planting the trees in a field, hence, but it is vulnerable to pest and disease! I found....
All I did was stick some animals, particularly equines.

Whilst wondering around a new research area yesterday, Ants, Little-foot and myself noticed that many of the damaged trees (much in the same way Neil Frosts trees had been damaged) where paper barks, in fact around 80% of the broken or 'munched trees'...

Not only do these trees carry large amounts of water BUT they are also the source of Tea tree oil, Anti so I can't really say.
