If I understand properly, to win the Stanley Cup, a team must simply win enough "points" to enter the "finals" and then it must win a series of matches (first team to win 4 games).
I don't understand exactly how a team wins the European Cup but it seems...

Old style European Cup or the Champions League format ? I know that we will never go back to the old knock out European Cup but i did enjoy them days. No seeding to help the big teams progress and certainly none of this no two teams from the same country...
