Was told i have a clog in refrigerant line in evap coil. can someone see if the diagnostics agree with this? (the tech recommends replacement of the whole air handler unit inside, and says the condenser is old and might as well be replaced too.)

If it were low on refrigerant the condenser split should be lower not higher .
Since super-heat on the evaporator coil.
A restriction should reduce the condenser temp-split NOT increase it .

Yes, most coil cases are insulated to the running refrigerant sound with the charging process.
Sounds pretty typical to me.

I have replaced and/or needed to recharge my CA unit's coil once if not twice per year the next time I go to use it my coil freezes up and then I get to suffer until I can get a tech to come out and either replace the coil....

I believe this is a Trane coil from 1992 per Kenton's reference material on age of AC's. It stated Trane started using the letter B for 1987, c in 1988, etc. This coil had a manufacturer date of G24.

Going there? Because they replaced the condenser in 06 but not the indoor coil (92) I think it might was replaced and the indoor coil (20 yrs old) was not.

Solenoid valve ( shuts liquid line off )
Solenoid coil ( operators solenoid valve, no refrigerant to the evaporator.

Booner107 was able to find an evaporator from radiators.com which for an OEM evaporator at the stealership....
I was able to find a replacement tube and fin style evaporator through Universal Air Conditioner (UAC) from a seller on ebay.

Looked under the car for 10 minutes and can't find the a/c evaporator drain. Picked up an expensive can of evaporator core cleaner from O'Reilley and can't wait to use it to get rid of the moldy smell coming from the vents !

Aside from replacement, has any one found a solution to leaky rear evaporator?
Mine appears to be leaking from where the copper tubes go into the coil. I put some dye in the system, and it showed up on every one. I initially narrowed it down by the evergreen...

The most practical solution if the coil has numerous leaks to seal to the evaporator....
The coil system pressure can easily read 100 psi.
Leaks-2.html Unless you can make the solder or braze points oil free, you won't get a good bond .
