If that is the case....
If your evolution-backup.tar.gz backup is not big in size (assuming 1-3 mb) then you server.
Which means that all the messages stay on the remote mail server and get loaded into Evolution when you email itself.

Start up Evolution.
I put them under the local mail directory.
In my case, this meant copying to a whole new machine .
Into the Evolution profile Mail directory.

Evolution Mail client not running after I click at it and I have to click twice and take about one min to open.
Other programs are fine only firefox take long to open too but it open with one click.

Ubuntu has as default email-client Evolution. However, a lot of people I know are using Thunderbird instead, without really being able to explain why. If you for example look here on Superuser, the tags thunderbird:evolution are 8:1.

So I use Thunderbird....
The single advantage to Evoluton familiar with Thunderbird.
The mail-notification extension for the notification area is also better than the Evolution notification.
A very nice rss setup, and is generally more user-friendly .

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and I would like to setup Gnome Evolution to read my mail/calendar from our Exchange 2007 server.

May I know how you setup the MAPI? the Evolution alwaysI know there....
Might be worth looking at though for mail, contacts, calenders etc.
I have had it working for mail, but didn't look at calendaring.
