The question just popped into my head.
I've seen many photos of peoples' collection, and many have the same bass from the same maker in multiples of many. I could understand if they were a four, five, six string; fretted and fretless, but a lot seem to...

Hello,
I recently bought a RODE K2. Most of the time I just used the cardioid pattern.
This morning, I curiously switched it to bi-directional mode, but it didn't sound the same when I spoke to the front side and the back side.

If you decide to "upgrade" or change your tone in the future, the parts bass won't be worth the cost of its parts.
In my experience, you'll never get your money back from a parts bass.

I sometimes use Simandl in lower positions of Fender bass and sometimes use 4 fingers from IV position to thumb precisely because it helps me play in tune in that region. Don't really care at all what it looks like and of course it depends on the bass...

I am looking to add a "warmer" to my pedal board.
What is a warmer?
Something that will "warm up" the sound a little bit, getting a bit, and I mean a bit only, of overdrive. The type of overdrive that sounds rather clean once mixed in a band context, ...

Most warmest ever bass overdrive! Youtube has clips.
To soundclips, and I'm in between two boxes right now:
1) DHA VT-1
2) Xotic Bass BB
Both appear to be good and high at 9 oclock.

How does a reverse P bass pickup sound compared to the regular P bass configuration? I am considering a J-bass with a reverse P-bass and J bass pick up configuration.

Will have to take your bass, rout it out for both and try both, same bass, strings, amp settings, etcFWIW:
