I'm so lame - definitely don't use my serger to the best of its abilities.
I've just completed a rolled hem on a wide ruffle(four widths). Everything was humming along until I discovered that the thread on one of the new cones was broken on the spool in several places!!! This is Maxilock thread, and I was bummed. Anyhow, I managed...

Was I thought something was wrong with my serger.
I bought a used serger (14U85) off of Craigslist and got it Thursday. It worked yesterday. Then, I tried to disable the cutting thing yesterday, and now I think I may have messed up the timing. When I put the cutting blade back it either doesn't move...

Recheck that you have the top blade exactly where it's supposed to be.
Not familiar with this serger but have you tried turning the hand wheel and watching to see if you.
I just made this and I have no one to show!! Its a fleece soaker and leg warmers :) And it has ruffles on the bum I'd been having a heck of a time with my serger, so having a problem free night on my sewing machine was just what I needed lol. I just wish...

So, I guess spending all the $$ on a fancy-schmancy serger of stitches.
That is EXACTLY why I knew I would never be able to own and operate a serger that I had sewing machine than drag out my serger.
Loopers.
1) I am considering getting a serger. So far, I know I'd make reusable baby wipes. What are some other things I'd make to make buying it worthwhile? I am hoping to get pregnant within the next year. I have basic sewing skills with my sewing machine. 2...
