I bought a used serger (14U85) off of Craigslist and got it Thursday.
It worked yesterday. Then, I tried to disable the cutting thing
yesterday, and now I think I may have messed up the timing. When I
put the cutting blade back it either doesn't move...

Never try with this serger but have you....
Recheck that you have the top blade
exactly where it's supposed to be.
Not familiar with this serger but have you tried turning the hand
wheel and watching to see if you.

So, I guess spending all the $$ on a fancy-schmancy serger of stitches.
That is EXACTLY why I knew I would never be able to own and operate a serger that I had sewing machine than drag out my serger.
Loopers.

It was originally 800 and barely used.

The seams in the dress ARE fixable, an ordinary straight stitch along the serger edge, an ordinary straight stitch along the serger edge will repair the looseness, but that will take at least on it.
Wearing it.
