This is pretty straight-forward.
Something like this answer over on Server Fault?
R = Read-Only : Most software, when seeing a file marked read-only, will refuse to delete or modify it .

Do any of these nosql type databases have GUI explorers where you can run queries, view the "tables" and their attributes etc?
