What's the current state of play here? I have a Humax HDR and it has to be set into a separate FTA mode for channels not on the EPG. Are there any other Freesat boxes that support FTA channels through some kind of 'other channels' the way Sky boxes do...

That is potentially very disrupting....
Are there any other Freesat boxes that support FTA channels it will be unable to record anything from Freesat - it becomes in effect a dumb FTA box.

HD boxes are a pain,most of the decent FTA stuff such as Channel 4 etc.

I know I'll need to replace the LNB on my old 80cm analogue sky dish thats still on the wall pointed at 19.2 degrees, but what set-top box will I need? Any Freesat set-top box do? and is it worth getting a HD one?

Has Sky has stopped doing OTA updates for old SD boxes?
Cheapskate that I am, I have an old Pace 2600 on 3.4.4 and would like to update to 3.8.8 (not sure what extras it gives me - but just like to have the most stable system).

However, the 2600 is one of the fairly 'recent' SD boxes, and updates are probably still more frequent than the old....
Firstly by soldering a jtag cable to the motherboard and connecting that cable to a PC it for older boxes.
